Dec 22, 2009 (SmarTrend(R) News Watch via COMTEX) -- CMCSA | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- 12/22/2009 - Berkshire Hathaway Inc. (NYSE:BRK.A) announced the appointment of Stephen Burke, COO of Comcast Corp. (NASDAQ:CMCSA) to its board of directors, according to a Bloomberg report.
In a statement, Warren Buffett said Burke "is business-savvy, owner-oriented and keenly interested in Berkshire."
The board needs to prepare for the eventual retirement of Buffett, who is the chairman, CEO and head of investments.
A spokeswoman for Comcast, D'Arcy Rudnay said, "It's an honor for Steve to be asked to join the board of Berkshire Hathaway and he's delighted."
