The chief executive of NetJets Europe, Bill Kelly, has resigned with immediate effect just one year after taking over the running of Europe's largest business jet operator, which is backed by Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway group.

Mr Kelly, previously chief executive of the group's Lisbon-based operating company, has been replaced by P. Eric Connor, senior vice- president and chief procurement officer of the MidAmerican Energy company.

Mr Kelly left "to pursue his own interests", said NetJets Europe, which has been hit by the downturn along with most business aviation companies.
