Roger Federer appears in a clever ad now airing in which the tennis legend stumps for Berkshire Hathaway unit NetJets.
Federer, who is on the verge of breaking Pete Sampras' all-time record for most Grand Slam singles titles, has been a NetJets fractional owner since 2004. The Berkshire-owned company allows people to essentially buy a time share in a private jet, using it for a certain number of hours per year rather than flying commercial.
NetJets, which is also endorsed by celebrity athletes Tiger Woods and Tom Brady in addition to Bill Gates and Warren Buffett himself, has been airing the ad during the Wimbledon tournament this week as Federer seeks his 15th Grand Slam singles title. The ad shows Federer dragging his huge supply of tennis trophies onto his NetJets plane.
Though Berkshire doesn't advertise itself on the holding company level, many of its operating units are major advertisers. Buffett said at the annual meeting this year that insurer GEICO is likely to spend $800 million on advertising this year, far more than its competitors.
Below is the most recent NetJets commercial featuring Federer, who is pictured to the right.
