The 56th Dallas Boat Show opens Friday at Market Hall with a new designation and an upscale party. This year's show is dubbed the Dallas International Boat Show because of growing international sales. The Feb. 4 Dallas Dock Party will be hosted by local radio personality George Dunham, an avid boater, and carries a $50 ticket price that includes drinks, food and entertainment. No general admission tickets are available that day. Most boaters don't realize that financial icon Warren Buffett is in the boating business. Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway company bought Forest River Inc. in 2005 and will introduce a luxury line of pontoon boats through Phil Dill Boats Inc. at the Dallas show. Pontoon boats represent a growing trend for family recreational boating, and the Forest River line combines speed records with a level of luxury previously unknown to this boating segment. For bargain-minded boaters, there's also a collection of boats that can be bought for $200 or less in monthly payments. Beginning boaters can find excellent tips for selecting, buying and using a first boat at www.discoverboating.com.09:26 PM CST on Saturday, January 24, 2009
