April 28 (Bloomberg) -- Mars Inc. and Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway Inc. are close to an agreement to buy Wm. Wrigley Jr. Co. for more than $22 billion, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing unidentified people familiar with the matter.
The acquisition will probably be announced as early as today, the newspaper said, adding that both Mars and Wrigley declined to comment.
The terms of the purchase aren't immediately clear; it's possible that Berkshire Hathaway will provide financing and become a stakeholder in Wrigley, the Journal added.
